Recently I had the privilege to print some outstanding images by L.A. artist George Porcari for Tif Sigfrids gallery…The paper of choice for these color photographs by George Porcari of late 1970’s era Los Angeles was my favorite paper for photographs: Hahnemuhle Baryta Heavyweight Fiber. I’ve tried, used, and beta-tested all manner of baryta papers by many manufacturers, and the Hahnemuhle Baryta Heavyweight Fiber has emerged as the best of the best. It is extremely popular with all of the photographers I print for, especially for fine art exhibition prints. The paper has excellent color reproduction and shadow detail, and perfectly duplicates the look and feel of traditional silver gelatin fiber-base baryta paper.
\nAll of the images were 11×16, and had to be shipped to L.A. for framing, and then shipped back to Tif Sigfrids<\/a> gallery for the show. The best part for me was being introduced to the work and writings of George Porcari<\/a>. And since George was able to travel and attend the opening, I had the extra treat of meeting and conversing with George. Absolutely inspirational for me, as artists like George are what initially drove me towards the arts and ultimately led to me dedicating my life to the arts, a decision I have never regretted. I have been meeting and working with wonderful\u00a0 artists like George Porcari for almost 30 years now, and what a great time it has been and continues to be!Below I’ve posted some shots of the prints for the exhibit taken at my viewing station as they were completed. And if you get the chance, check out the show at Tif Sigfrids, and definitely take a look at the incredible work of George Porcari!<\/p>\n

—-“George Porcari is an artist and photographer based in Los Angeles. Born in Lima Peru, George emigrated to LA in the 60s and begun his lifelong vocation in observing, documenting and greeting his cities and his surroundings. Porcari attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he has also taught film and collage history classes and worked as an acquisitions librarian for many years. Porcari has exhibited widely and internationally since his very first solo show in New York back in 1988; among the most recent were solo exhibitions at Tif\u2019s Desk in 2012 and at China Art Objects in 2010. His numerous critical essays and other writings have appeared in such places as CINEAction, NY arts, Inflatable Magazine and many others.”—-
